I was watching a program on the BBC about the history of Horror films & it being the time of year when Horror films are very much in fashion what films stand out for you, which films had you covering your eyes or running behind the sofa in terror. For me it had to be the original Alien film in 1979 it may not seem so scary now but when i was younger and & first saw it i had nightmares for a few nights afterwards i have to confess. In a close second would be the film Psycho (1960) it may be an old film but one i think stands the test of time and who could ever forget the iconic shower sequence with that almost screeching music.
The film that terrifies me the most is Wolf Creek. I have watched a lot of horror but that movie gives me nightmares......ooooooo you cant beat the classics like phsyco and the shining
The Omen. When I was a young kid I seen it, and I was terrified. It still has an eerie feel to it today.
The exorsist .... When she's coming down the stairs backwards eek freaks me out!! Generally I don't watch them, made the fatal mistake of watching paranormal on my own I was away working so staying in a creepy old hotel. I couldn't go to sleep had to keep the light on lol
One the best films i ever seen was called the woman in black made in 1989 by the bbc its a great film and the effects in it are classic one to watch.
wrong turn guts gore brilliant specail effects of being killed or the remake the hills have eyes!!

Agree with Wolf-Creek, I had to keep switching channels during the bits I couldn't watch. I'm a genuine horror fan and not much scares me but I think the fact Wolf-Creek has such potential to actually happen is what is the most scary. The more far-fetched a horror the less effect it has on me, but show me a film that could actually happen me driving down a country road some time and colour me petrified! Hills have eyes remake also a good one.

I've not seen it, is it an old film? I'm a huge horror fan but have to say all the old horrors are the best the ones, the recent ones are shoite!
Was watching IT yesterday and pet semetary and my 9 year old thought they were brilliant... lots more to watch this week-end

Was that paranormal activity? I was very disappointed in that film, was told not to watch it alone as it was soooo scary etc....
A door slams closed that was it! I couldnt find anything else scary bout it!
I wont be buying the second one that's for sure lol
Saw paranormal activity 2 the other night. I enjoyed it. Wolf-Creek is a recent film set in Australia about 2 female 1 male tourist who come across this nomad type aussie guy who used to travel across the country working on sheep farms etc. He helps them out with car trouble and brings them to an old yard type place in the middle of nowhere........ Thing is it is based on a true story, 3 tourists who do go missing; and imagines what happened to them. Because it is so close to reality it is scary. Texas Chainsaw Massacre gets me too!

I'm just a big scardy kitten lol.....
An old British film from the 60's called The Haunting is quite good. Its eerie, suspenseful and best of all its in black & white. If you notice it on tv over Halloween, do yourself a favour and watch it.
I love horror films...not the gore ones :S they are just for shock value
The Shining
The Omen
Pyscho
The Others
Sixth Sense
Exorcism of Emily Rose that actress deserved a damn oscar
and will definately have to find Woof Creek :thrilled:

A great horror movie is The Mist, a little gem of a movie that came out a couple of years ago. A small town is enveloped by a mysterious mist, trapping a number of people in the local supermarket. Bloody thirsty creatures are soon revealed to be roaming in the mist, while the occupants of the supermarket descend into paranoia and religious fervour.
A great film that doesn't rely on gore, with human behaviour being the scariest part (like all great horror movies). A tense, chilling and bleak film with a truly unsettling twist at the end!

I have that on dvd here as I was given it, thankfully, because I wouldn't have paid for it. I personally thought that film was complete and utter rubbish but that's my take on it, different strokes for different folks!
the Original Dracula, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, not saying what part but still a very vivid in me head, those hammer house movies are prob a bit outdated now, but when they were about, they were the ones that made sure you changed your underwear at least once a day!!!
Exorcist, Absolution, Amityville Horror, Audrey Rose, The Devils, anything demonic or to do with possesion I find interesting.

Jaysus Amber thanks for totally dissing one of my favourite horror flicks!:upset::grin:
I'm here banging on about how scary it is and you say it's rubbish!
Geesh!bolt
Still, you're getting top marks for mentioning Pet Cemetary, another Stephen King classic!
Anyone think The Fog (the original not the remake) is a good one? Especially the start with a good old fashioned ghost story around the campfire

Same as that, switched on the Omen tonight but was disappointed to find it was the remake.
Although the remake of the Omen was practically word for word and scene for scene, it has absolutely none of the feel and atmosphere of the original. I remember checking my little bro's hair years ago to see if he has 666 on his skull

You and me both it was the only horror showing on tv last night too that I could see, other than Scary Movie which is a just a blatant piss-take on horror!
However tonight is different, some good oldies to be shown, Poltergeist and Exorcist to name but a few
Is it just me or was there a lack of Horror Films on this year for Halloween? Save for the Movie channels there weren't that many on that i saw.

Have to agree worshipme some of thoes faces that girl pulls on the Exorcism of Emily Rose are brilliant and the filmis act based on a true story.
THe original 1978 Halloween a nightmare on elm street 1984 version naturally salems lot (those kids at the window..... Jeeez) as someone who has worked on a couple of low budget films the Blair witch project and paranormal activity are minor classics in my opinion zack snyders dawn of the dead remake was far better than it had right to be, the original dawn of the dead is of course the godfather of zombie films. I could go on all day, massive movie fan. Watched 4 DVDs yesterday
