As of today the chat room is set to Maximum of 80 chatters per room.
When the room Limit is reached (80)you must wait until the chat room population drops to 79 occupants before you can enter the room.
The reasons for this:
facilitate a more even spread of chatters in the rooms and so alleviating the problems of slow chat when a single room goes over 100 chatters.
should also allow more space for all chat room occupants to chat in main.
3. There is also a new 'Newbies Club' Allowing new people on chat to get accustomed to the chat rooms.
Please feel free to comment on this thread as your feedback would be appreciated.
just wish to add, when room have reached their upper limit, chatters who are visible in numerous rooms will be removed from rooms at full capacity to give genuine chatters space to move around and get involved.
Hey don't mean to complain as i know you mods and admin people have a busy enough job. Just an observation since you have changed the limit on the rooms. When the beachbar has reached the limit it is almost impossible to get into chat. It just freezes out when you try to log in. I know your ment to be redirected to the pool as an overflow but this doesn't seem to be working. Also if you try and enter a room at the limit it freezes aswell instead of dropping you back into the room you where in. This is particularly frustrating. Were using firefox ver 3.5.3 and all our java is updated. Hope this helps you iron out any theething problems. A&T
Havent had any probs myself getting redirected to the pool..but what I have noticed is when you try to enter a room that has reached its capacity, its just greyed out, meaning you either have to re enter chat again, or just hang in grey till space comes free before full access to room is gained.
pretty sure the culprits who like to be in multiple rooms (you know who you are), made a bit of effort and gave a little respect to other site users, then there would be no issues about room capacities on site. as has been seen in the past when the room had a capacity of 100+, people created their own room or moved around so they could chat with each other, without having issues about chat moving to fast/slow.

Hi A and T . I think you will find its a matter of just trying and remember that there could be 10 others in the same position as you when you try and get into a room thats at 79 members so it will e pot luck whoever gets in first. Unfortunately this is a set back of the system but it should level itself out as the night goes on and people move to private rooms and the smaller room. Thanks for your Input it will be taken into account.
Ermmmm f I get stook will sumbody be able keep my seat till I get bak on again ..... :happy:bolt
I noticed on Thur night when I tried to go into the beach I ended up getting stuck in whatever room I was trying to leave. I thus got stuck in a lot of rooms including the pool, and as the beach was full I actually could not get into chat at all. My only option was to log in under a little used couple profile which we have and asked to be kicked. The particular mod in question didnt answer when I asked the first time, and when I did get a reply the mod was quite rude to me, challenging me and saying that I was multirooming and couldnt see why I needed to be. I was then asked a few minutes later ..."are you still there". As I ensure not to offend or inconvenience any other person on this site , I was quite taken aback by the mods reaction.
Long, if you feel you were treated in an unfair way by any mod on this site, then please, do not hesitate to lodge a formal complaint to admin via their profile or a support ticket, and request they view the chat logs, giving them the room date and time. All mods are bound by site rules just like any other member.
Thank you, Sherri. I have got over the incident, and as the saying goes I will let the hare sit.
I understand the reasoning for changing the rules because a limited number of people have a thing about being in many rooms; and it's not hard to think of them, we've all seen who they are; and for all your efforts there are some still doing it. It does appear that the majority are being punished for the actions of the minority. I've had to use text and m, s. n to tell people what room i'm going into just to chat to them in swing, which is crap. As for the smaller room size now? Has it improved the chat and the ability to enter a room? No it hasn't, I was in the main room the other night, there were four regular mods on, I said "hi all" three times and was ignored, I made a further three lines in room about being ignored and not a mute from anyone, not one of 79 people could do a basic hi, and it's not the first time either, which is simply rude, or it's a measure of how exclusive this site is. I'm sorry but I'm not a girl, I am indeed a guy, a straight guy, sorry if that is such a hard thing to for the rooms to accept. Swing is for fems, single males are outcasts. Bottom line, the change in room size? Hasn't changed anything, just made things more awkward for everyone.
Like Sherri I have no problem being directed to the pool, it seems to happen automaticaly now, and as I find it sometimes tiring following the flow of conversations in the Beach Bar I tend to stick to the smaller rooms... As for being ignored when I go into rooms, I have no problem with that, it happens to fems as much as males believe it not , people are chatting, some are apppearing as in the room, but not... and I accept that some people simply don't see me as saying hello material, so I buzz off.. On the subject of members being in mutiple rooms, I don't agree with it, but it's their choice, why they want to be is beyond me, as following chat in any room is enough for me. Personaly if I am in a room , I try to make every effort to say hello, when someone comes in and speaks, yes as Sabre says it is good manners, but as for claiming that the site is for fems only, that's rubbish... The site is not only about chatrooms, it is about mail, browsing, making meets, couples, singles, single males, ect..ect...ect... And if wasn't for fems single guys wouldn't feel the need to even join...
balls to this idea,,,lame excuse from mods and lame reason to..new rooms or not,,,its just not good enough,,
Sabre, if I ever have ignored you in chat, then my apologies, I do try as best as possible to greet everyone who greets the room, at times I do miss it, but thats either because Im doing something elsewhere and maybe forget to turn my busy sign on, or Im having a prvt chat, and not noticing normal chat, aside from when someone is up to no good. Lucan if your not happy with new system, maybe make a suggestion as to how you would like to see things done, admin impliments and we as mods just help with feedback etc...so no point in blaming mods if its not good enough for you..go to the head honcho and have you say.
Sabrecat, I remeber you in the room the night in Particular and I did indeed say hi, But then again some in the rooms as other posters have said can be busy and wont drop everything when someone comes into chat. Lucan the reasons for the reduction in Numbers in chat were to make the chat run smoother, those on lower speed connections i.e, not to make Mods life any easier. Mobile Broadband users(slow connections) etc get screwed when the chat room numbers go over 100 . Secondly there have been threads on here lately about people complaining about 'cliques' and 'exclusivity' and not being able to break into chat. The room Limit Idea is to promote a more even spread of chatters in the rooms and so reduce this perception. As we all know people have degrees of 'Friendliness' with each other in the chatrooms, and as is human nature some of us tend to 'group' to some degree in these environments. With the people being spread out to more rooms the Idea was to stimulate more open chat conversation for those who arent as 'Vocal' in main chat. Being 'Locked out' Of a room is an unfortunate side effect of this, In many similar chat rooms there are room Limits and they seem to work Ok. Like a lot of things it just a thing of people getting used to it.
I think " limiting the room number to 80" is a good move forward for the site, I can understand fellow users initial frustration, but like everything with time we will get used to it. The limitation to room sizes is common on other sites and has its benefits, encouraging users to join other rooms and possibly getting a chance to chat and have the banter with others that they may not of otherwise had the opportunity to have come across! My two cents worth. Padd's
sherri,,, for starters i dont blame the mods on this,,maybe i did not choose my words correctly,,, but as for going to admin,,,i feel its a pointless excirsise,,as admin will do as it pleases regardless of people paying to use this service,,but when the time comes to renew membership i will make my decision then,,,
[quote user=Titan79]Sabrecat, I remeber you in the room the night in Particular and I did indeed say hi, But then again some in the rooms as other posters have said can be busy and wont drop everything when someone comes into chat. Titan, we did chat briefly later that night so sorry if you had said hi earlier and I didn't see it, I did scour the chat lines before making any remarks about not being acknowledged by 79 people, who were to busy to say a basic hi? You don't have to drop everything to say hi, in fact I make it a point to say hi when someone tries to break into a room; but that's not exactly what this string is about so sorry I included it. The room sizes wil keep the chat speed readable for slower connections; but it is difficult to find people if they are in a room and you can't get into it, which is the point I was making about having to text and use other media just to let people know where I was. Anyway, the mods' and admin have their roles here; and change is a difficult thing to implement; and we'll whinge and rant for a while until we get into the swing of it! lol!
Probably going to be slated for this, but does the same rule apply too MOD's too?

no padds , moderators can be in multiple rooms at once , so that does not apply
That's a legitimate enough question, Padds. But it's necessary to be in more than one room for mods, especially at times we are short handed. Otherwise we try to spread the wealth so to speak. It even can be a bit of a pain modding in more than one room and minding multiple chats. That said, the room limit is still in experimental phase. It will have inherent growing pains. After the dust has settled a bit, a better perspective may emerge.
Sorry, Unfair and invalid response! How can a Moderator be in more than one room and Moderate? What if problems arise in both rooms! which do you go to? I am only asking a question, not making the rules! and stating a fact!!!

For something that was initiated in order to help site users and especially those using the chatroom, it has turned in to a pop at Moderators!!! Current mod team do a damn good job and as long as they can justify their actions to the site owner the majority of genuine users will understand. The chatrooms are currently going through a new phase in order to alleviate problems some, (if not most), have experienced.
smilehi irish baileys ,,,,re this forum turning into people having a go at mods,. i cant see it myself and have read it now a few times,,i do think some people have a hidden agenda, towards mods, and i also think there are a good group of mods in chat the main,,, also there are enough mods as far as i can see,,,,no need to be given anymore stripes out,,,,,it gets to some peeps heads present set of mods excluded..
That is not the case, or never will be. The Thread "Anything Goes" permits freedom of speech, Hopefully I will permitted to do so?
Lucan-couple,
Thanks for your kind comments, its nice that someone appreciates what goes on in the background to ensure people enjoy themselves.
Padds,
Indeed it is 'Anything Goes', freedom of speech is welcome on this thread.
By all means have your rants, you have become renowned for them.

And I am like you as a user, am entitled to them! This is in no way an attack on individuals!
There has been nothing said against Mods - in fact - quite the reverse - everyone who expressed an opinion on them appreciated the job they do - and know it's not a bed of roses for them to do it - as volunteers.
