Padds, you're right about this forum being "Anything Goes", "Freedom of Speech" etc; but this string within the forum is on the new room rules which Titan posted to keep the masses aware of reasons why things have changed.
My own little rant digressed a bit and I closed the door on that earlier and apologised for it's inclusion; because I have went off on a bit that didn't really belong to this string, as is this note to you now.
I have to agree with the mods here in that your correspondence is out of place. If you have an issue with mods, quantity of or quality of their performance then perhaps it would be best to open a new string in the "Anything Goes" forum, instead of ping pong responses in a string which is important to a lot of users at the minute.
Sabre I understand your frustration as you say in trying to find other chatters you know are in chat, but you can't as you can't access the room. This I find frustrating also I must admit,as it has happened to me now on more then one occassion. But I think over time as we all adjust to the new change, and get used to having to use other rooms, chatters wont be as bothered maybe in not being in the main room as before, and will be more willing to seek out those they enjoy chatting to..even if it means hopping to smaller rooms or creating a room...just a thought.
Sabre, I do not have an issue with the Mod's if I had or they with me, then the route to address that would be via Admin. I am only only answering each Mod's reply to my posts, apologies if it came across in any way other than that.
We are following whats going on, this particular change was put in place after members reported that very often chat was unusable for them when the numbers got high.
With time we may be able to find a better way to do it and we do have people working on it.
There's a few other changes in progress across the site and we keep adding to the list, approving favorites came up in a thread the other day and is on there, so don't ever think that we just railroad things out, there's usually a good reason.
If there is one thing I have learned from my involvement with many groups and organisations, it is that you can never please all of the people all of the time.
I must say the new chat system appears to work better, certainly for me, but guys and girls, it all takes time to iron out problems etc.
If we work with the Moderators and Admin, rather than rant at them, then maybe between us all we can ensure that this site is a fun place to be for everyone.....or at least the majority.
Admin touched on the favourites issue, which is causing contention for some members. I believe that this feature is being used simply to tag profiles some users find of interest or profiles of people they have noted in chat and had an interest in.
It is understandable that some members may feel that a stranger has no reason to be able to locate them on site at any given time, and also that this takes away their discretionary rights to control contact on this site.
Perhaps, while looking at this issue, Admin may consider adding a tagging/ book-marking facility wherein a user can record profile details they found interesting. This would simply flag a profile name on your account while in no way infringing on the other parties right to privacy.
This would allow us to retain the favourites function for what it is intended; recording our yummy friends! To be allowed to accept or decline a favourite status on another person’s profile would be preferable and much appreciated.
well sherri and others who claim that because we do not agree,,its classed as a rant,or that we are,nt on hear long enough 'passing tru'..i dont think so we have been on hear a long long time using different names, and maybe taking a break for several weeks at a time..
as a paying customer,,which is our choice to be a paying customer,as we were given free membership previously, but took a break shortly after that,,
i think we have every right to voice our opinion as the forum is called anything goes..and i find the new imposed changes do not suit us,,which is my point,,but maybe because i,m not one who runs with the pack this marks us out as different,,
also i have looked into other sites,,and did not like what i found,,which is why i stayed on this one,,but maybe the idea of this treat is anything goes as long as you dont rock the boat,,,
I said you had a complaint which is what your entitled to, I never said you were ranting, and I also said you never put forward anything constructive by way of an alternative idea. Not once did I imply you were just passing through, I know you have been on this site under dif names longer then I have, and if you felt I implied you werent part of the community then Im sorry as thats now how it was intended. But we have just chatted about this, and you and I both know where we are at, so I'll leave it there.
thanks sherri,,,not all that last post was directed at you ,,some others seem to think i,m mod bashing which as u know i,m not...
as for coming up with constructive ideas at the moment my mind is on other matters,,but in general i have had the odd good idea and if n when my mind is more focused i will put forward my ideas..
once again sorry sherri i was not having a go at u xxx
i agree as new people join they find it hard 2 join in chat so less people in rooms might help them to chat and join in a bit more
Please Note: If you attempt to enter a ""full" room and a blank screen is given, you will still gain entrance to the room by simply waiting. The wait period is variable, but rarely takes more than several minutes. By being patient and waiting instead of simply leaving and trying to log back in, you will likely gain access to the main room much quicker and avoid further frustration.
We dont mind waiting.....some times it can be worth it for the laugh you have when you get into the rooms.
ive had no problems with new system an i think it works well
Grrr,,,,, it just happened to me.... but being the Patient person I am.... lmao... I continue to wait

What on earth are you doing Padds lol??!!
:taz:
ZaZa,
Counting down, how long it took me to get back into the chatroom!!
LB point taken.
Just something for all to consider...if the room limits were raised to say 100...would there not be similar complaints? Although admin based this decision on feedback from many users complaining of the rooms being too slow and difficult to get involved in chat, it's impossible to ask every member for their individual opinions. Just as admin took on board the above complaints, I'm sure those opposed to the 80 per room limit will also be considered. The final point I wish to put forth is that the limit imposed was never set in stone. It has always been experimental and admin is taking time to consider the 80 limit and how it effects the chat and users. It's probably not something that could be determined in say only a week for example.
To those unhappy with the limit, I would just say bear with us. It's a process and it's meant for the good of the site. Scouts honor! :2fingers:
I'm only picking this up now so apologies if i'm repeating stuff that someone might have stated earlier. I'm floating around chat rooms a long time now and what i notice is people park themselves in chat and often are not at their screen at all.
I have seen it in other sites where if you are inactive in chat for a period of about 10 mins you get auto booted out. This stops 80 in a room with only actually 20-30 chatting or whispering. If people are concerned about those that just sit and watch then you could increase it to 20 mins but i know for a fact that i have logged on at different times of the day where people are logged on but they don't seem to respond or seem to be there at all.
Where it has been implemented it seems to work so you don't get people logging in and parking thus taking up spaces that could be used by people that actually want to chat / whisper.
My tuppence worth.
Sean xx
Sean,
ya lazy bollix,,,, lmao.... as a Member of the Parent UK site, room limits are 70, fook we are blessed here.
But I do agree, idle chatters that sit here, clog up the room/s should be kicked and I do agree a time limit should be set, fair play.
Not going to say much more, for fear of reaction.
Padd's
Ah Sean the time limit wouldn't be fair to the newbies as we were all once, when I first clicked into the chatroom I sat and watched for a couple of days (not all day) to see how things worked in there, before taking the plunge and saying 'Hi'.
And how do you determine if a person is at their screen or not!
I think the 80 limit per room is working fine, like most things it's a case of just getting used to it and it seems most have by now.
Sean that is a great idea, we have been on sites with a time limit if your just sitting there and not typing and we found it great,we have found in chat here a lot of rooms can have loads in them but no one is chatting openly, they are either whispering or just sitting there doing nothing, we don't stay in those rooms long....so yeah a time limit for inactivity is a great idea.
Question about rooms? I was on this morning and two users where on cam in two rooms! (Not a Mod) now with room limits should this be allowed? As it was it did not affect users ability to get into the chatrooms as both where only populated by some 20 or so members but it is worth thinking about! Why do users feel the chat need to be on cam in two different rooms?
