I mean background as in sexual background, their previous practices so to speak, to me multiple partners means multiple risks, and whilst nothing is risk free, I do try to limit the risk as much as possible, so I guess its more a healh factor then an intimate one really....

Frank, you're right. I stand corrected. I passed on the info in good faith, but I now question it too. Since reading your comment I had a look on Wikipedia for info about Herpes and found the following:
"Herpes is contracted through direct contact with an active lesion or body fluid of an infected person. Herpes transmission occurs between discordant partners; a person with a history of infection (HSV seropositive) can pass the virus to an HSV seronegative person. While herpes virus type 2 has been demonstrated to remain viable on toilet seats for 2 to 4 hours after contact and on dry gauze for up to 72 hours, as of the submission of those findings (1984) there were no documented cases of infection via an inanimate object (e.g. a towel, toilet seat, drinking vessels). To infect a new individual, HSV travels through tiny breaks in the skin or mucous membranes in the mouth or genital areas. Even microscopic abrasions on mucous membranes are sufficient to allow viral entry."
In view of my misinformation, I think it best that I now ask a moderator to delete my post. I'll also be asking the same doctor about the serious omission in her information.

Thanks Louise. I'm not sure how it all works, but I find that the edit button only remains visible and accessible for a short time after the post has been made, and then it disappears. I can't see it in that particular post any longer. Maybe there are different membership levels and it differs according to them
But I did rather like those 3 x's you left. I'll save them up and when I've got 100, I'll make the trip down to Dublin and cash them all in at once. ;-)
