Hi guys and gals,
I chatted to a guy in here ages ago and today i got an e-mail from him saying hi ****** (my name) - how are you, where have you been - anyway take a look at this and he sent me a link saying ITS EASY, FREE AND SECURE and a link to click.
Now i remember talking to this guy so i trusted him and as i have a great anti-virus that sends a pop up to anything dodgy , i clicked on it.
Immediately i got a pop up saying WEB FORGERY and it said that THIS WEB SITE HAS BEEN BLOCKED FOR SECURITY REASONS. IT IS DESIGNED TO TRICK YOU INTO REVEALING UR FINANCIAL OR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND CLICKING ON IT WILL REVEAL EITHER OR BOTH.
Not everyone has very good anti-viruses and so might not get that warning so im telling people to beware of e-mails u get from people on here and only open those of people that you totally trust and not random guys u may have chatted to once or twice and havnt heard from in a while
Just a heads up and dont want to scare people

Hi Guys, Seen the mail that was sent and it is a nasty virus. Both us and badgirl are running Avira anit-virus (Free version) and luckily it caught it before it did any damage. Be on the look out as this may catch someone and might cost them a pretty penny!!
Moral of the story, here, is keep your anti-virus software updated, have you any doubt's I strongly recommend using "AVAST", it's free and weeds out Virus's ect.. that AVG can not find! Also consider using MOZILLA ( FIREFOX) as a browser.
Padd's
Also, for those that share their M...S....N ID,,, simple solution..... just change your password! on M....
i use avast antivirus and find it great ;)
Fab post,,BadGirl.........
I actually just got that mail sent to Me now,,before I read your post.....While I did as such open the mail,,I didn't click on the "Click here".
Thanks for the heads up though.....
welldone Badgirl on bringing this to all our attention, could admin make it a sticky/announcement to keep it on page one for all members to see whenever they log on for the next few weeks at least
along the lines of badgirls message people seem to be having their accounts compromised either through a link with or mails that they have received on on other networks. personally a while back I felt that either my account on the same network in question or pic on here were compromised some how. It seems to be happening again that members are receiving mails on a certain network and somehow by clicking a link in the mails their profiles here are being compromised. As I am not a techie don't know if its possible but it sure is a coincidence that having clicked on link and replying to message a person's profile seems to have been compromised. Just a word of warning to everyone, unless you are absolutely 100% sure about the link be wary of clicking on it and be wary of who you give your profile names to. (had network name in original post but it removed, understand why)
Just received the same or similar mail from someone I knew overseas, but I have gotten to stage with emails that have attachments or links, unless I am actually expecting something in, I dont click on anything even if I know the person well.
Hi Keaneo69 here, just to let people know, be very careful with regards passwords etc, because this week i have had trouble with my account, as it looks like someone got in once they had my name keaneo69 and Lemrac's and tried to do something illegal on site. Be very careful what emails you open, i opened one in my giving me a link to then seemly my troubles started. So this is a warning to everyone out there be careful.
Thanks Keaneo69.
Padds we tried that avast anti virus thing and it slowed our pc down to a near stop:censored:
If any one ever quessed my password they would get the shock of their life lol and we dont open dodgy emails so should be safe:eeek:
New Symantec 2010 ..on windows 7 ROCKS....
good advice given above.. never open an attachment...unless you know who its from..and agreed...
take care and be good..

I've been wondering for years how people manage to catch so many viruses....I've been on the net for almost 15 years now, have only ever had AV software running once (hated it, made my machine virually unusable), and have only ever had 1 virus, which I caught from an infected floppy disk back in the days of windows 3.1 (believe me people I have been a frequenter of some of the least secure sites around).
After spending 10 yrs as an IT tech and seeing so many infected I came to the conclusion that the more you frequent sites run by big corporations orwith a high profile the more likely you are to get one, as these are usually what the virus authors target, and strangely enough are where a lot of these people work, or used to!
What seems to be far more common now is spyware and malware - it's probably spyware that's responsible for the phenomenon of stolen logins and passwords.
