Hi I am sticking my neck out here and think addies comment is directed at the original poster ...and the term 'Shemale'...I believe it is an odious term.
Dora has explain perfectly what the correct term should be. And fair play to you Dora you are a breath of fresh air on here at times..
just my two cents worth
well personally i have no problems at all with anyones gender in here or out in public ---------- as long as someone is happy - go for it.
from knowing dora thru here she is one of the most refreshing people ive spoke to - and i wont turn my cam on as she gets everyone looking at her.....:giggle:

I'm a hetero bloke (though no one who knows me seems to think that...including my wife-to-be-ex-wife). I don't normally dress in womens clothes (but I have, and it felt good). I have no desire to be or act like a women. SO, with those credentials, I'll say:
Anyone should be whoever (note, not 'whatever' nor 'whomsoever') they want to be (if they are allowed)
Now, without getting into the 'exact wordings' list,
I will be friends with a TV/TS/XD or 'shemale'
if they are a nice person.. AND I will NOT be ashamed, and not ashamed to admit it.
If they are not a nice person as a person, then I won't be friends. Simple as that.
And, I've been in chat-rooms with Dora (who I'm glad to see is posting some stuff on the Threads nowadays). Dora looks great.
And one final point: Not only do I accept 'shemales', I welcome them and am glad that the world has an extra dimension of glamour and preference being gradually added to the front-line of society.

Fair dues to you Jomor for that open and frank post, I have had fun with Tvs and ts's and I have to say I treat everyone with the same dignity as they deserve regardless of theyre 'Packaging' Though I do take point with the term shemale, which to my best knowledge was a crass marketing term originally conceived by porn producers to put a 'Label' on transgenders which they thought might be more 'Catchy'
Fair play to all shemales or whatever others want to call it. Life is hard enough for people who do not fit the mold including swingers. gays bifems bimales lesbians and so forth.

I think that on that alone (and I did say that I wasn't gonna give a massive list), that the names being applied are not widely know OR if known then have differnt meanings to different people.
Maybe, there should be a sticky on this topic and similar ones as a 'Glossary' of terms. Wikipedia aint always that good you know.
I shouldn't really mention this (as where I'm from is irrelevant), but I will:
I'm from a place that has been, for a large part of my lifetime, much more free in its attitude to people of different sexualities and sexual preferences. That place has not always been like that, and there are still plenty of bigots and lots of problems.
The progression to a more liberal thinking society is not without its problems....media coverage of topics may enlighten otherwise ignorant bigots and feed them with extra 'words' with which to class and attack people.
But time does do liberalism a favour....eventually.
