Ok Ive seen this term mentioned a few times on this site and Im just wondering is someone who has an age preference ageist?
I myself prefer to 10yrs upper limit and 2yrs younger. Am I an ageist?
I would also expect there to be physical attraction too. And everybody has different tastes so what I find attractive other people wont and not everyone is going to find me attractive its just the way things are. That is my choice and I dont think I should have to explain myself to anyone for it.
Who you want to meet is your choice and I dont think its right for anyone to judge that. If I put up a post that I would like to meet an older heavy guy would people be so judging of that?

Is it ageism?
kk hun..your entitled to your preferences no matter what they are, be it age, size, looks, sexuality, hair, etc etc, this topic as you say has been brought up before, and if someone is having a pop at you over it just ignore it or if they hassled you tell one of the mods....everyones preferences should be respected on here no matter what they are.
I have to admit that I have not seen the term ageism used by anybody here yet but, we are only here a short while.
Can't understand what way somebody would judge you because you have a preference for a certain age? If you said you only prefer people of a certain race then I suppose some could say you are racist. I think the only people who would have a problem with it are those who fall outside your age range and for some unknown reason are upset over it.
As you say we all have our personal preferences and for some there has to be some physical attraction. I think I would be right in saying that the 'attraction' part is more important for the females on this site?
Just like you I also have an age preference...I would feel uncomfortable with a girl 10 years younger or older. Maybe somebody 11 years older would take exception to that, sorry whoever you are!
I know my wife also has an age preference which is totally different from mine although we are the same age as each other.
We are all different and we all have different tastes...take us as you find us are leave us be.

We all have free will and choice thank god and I dont think anyone should have to explain any preferences or reasons for that.
In my opinion Ageism doesn't apply in the swing world.
It doesn't mean one doesn't like a person due to their age. Or that they are less capable or less of a person; it only means people would rather have a relationship of sorts within their own preferable age group.
Whenever blanket assumptions or prejudices are put forth in regard to age then yes. That is ageist. Also rude and insensitive.

Believe it or not I actually never heard the term 'ageism' before..
I just meant that if race is involved then the phrase 'racist' can be used or if it is a question of class then the word 'snob!' might be used.
So if someone is guilty of ageism, then what are they...an ageist?..does the word even exist?
That was the point I was trying to make, not suggesting for one second that anybody on this site is guilty of anything.

I have a very live and let live view and would I would expect the same. I have been called a time waster, a messer and more recently a diva because of my prefrences. I was a tad hurt when someone i would chat with occansional in chat room accused me of wasting there time because I told em I dont meet single guys under 35. I mean just a cause ya chat to someone does not mean you want to meet ya no. But sure im a big girl and il get over it
