Hey, I've €17 million+ debt thanks for bringing this to light! Because there are licensing issues I can dispute the onus on me to repay the debt (I created) to an unlicensed entity! Good luck people of Ireland covering my ass.........
Barstool/armchair amateur advisors are dangerous and do people more harm than good in most cases. People in difficulty should be encouraged and supported in formulating a way to manage and reduce their debt and discouraged from generating more. Short-term avoidance 'theories' are detrimental and irresponsible and should not be disseminated by those who do not have a full, definite, understanding of all results and possible ramifications.
It is understandable that in the current frustrated times we would all want to 'get one over on the man'. I don't have any debt but I stuggle financially. Now if I find that all banks are operating illegally, I am just going to have to curl up in a ball and die because I promise you it's the likes of me and mine who will bear this brunt once again (I have yet to see it confirmed that the banks have no licenses, that they have had them revoked, or even that they have legally been deemed in breach of existing ones - I think I'll wait for the Supreme Courts take on this. I would hope that if it is found so that the banks would be disciplined, because believe me if liabilities are found to be void then the debts are not going to simply disappear). I have accepted we are in difficult times, I have accepted that we will just have to put the head down and get on with it for the purpose of ensuring we eventually come out of this. My country has supported or supplemented my income at points, I am grateful for this and will happily spend the rest of my life paying this back.
These posts are not what I log into this site for and I will not be getting involved in further discussion here, but the irresponsible provision of advice is a sore point with me. Nothing I have seen shows a responsible logical approach to the licensing issue, just more of the typcial Del Boy ducking and diving tactics which got us into this mess. If you can pay then you should pay..... simples. You didn't ask to see the license when you generated the debt so why is it a concern now? One individual owes over €17 MILLION. Tell me the PEOPLE OF IRELAND aren't going to suffer if he is somehow found to be clear of responsibility? And tell me you won't still be liable for property tax even if he is.........

It certainly will be interesting to see what the courts ultimately decide on this but even if they decide that he doesn't have to repay the loan you can be sure the government will make sure that it is the taxpayer who will pick up the bill and AIB won't be out of pocket
I come on here to escape this... take your agenda to a site that cares.... I believe Facebook is great for talking shite...
