Favourites!!
Do people ever take time to read profiles?
This thread is probably repetition on previous posts but I feel it has to be highlighted once again.
I only ever add people too my favourites that I have chatted with!
I awoke this morning too a email on here, only to find I have new favourites????
Please on the updates on the site, introduce a "reject button"
Padds
Padds, thats a Valid Point I will bring it to admins attention.
Padds did you have to go to the doctor to get that one sorted..are you scarred for life...Jaysus... just ignore it lol...
I really dont understand... or maybe the workload is taking over your day...having to reject all those ...unsolicited advances...
I just employed a secetary to look after mine....maybe we can syndicate for a fee.....
kind regards
frank
I disagree Padds.
I use the favourites to file the person so that when I come on site, I have someone remotely compatible to converse with (ie women over 40 normally, although I do add others I have chatted with in room, most notably, the delectable Dora).
I think the fault might be with the site in informing the chosen favourite, when, quite often the choice is made flippantly, induced by an abundance of gargle!!
The idea that Padds has,,is after being put forward to Admin!
As soon as We get a decision,We will post a Thread about it here!!
Yeah I added some people to my favourites before, just so I could find their profiles again and browse their galleries without searching, didn't know they would even know I added them until I saw somebodies profile asking people not to add them as favourites, so I removed anybody I had added to favourites, somebody added me as a favourite a while ago, other than the automatic mail I got and their name showing up in my events I can't see much of a problem with it, yes they can see when I'm online as I could with any favourites I had but what else can favourites do for people.
Titan,
That withstanding, People adding you indiscriminately without your prior knowledge is unfair, and may give off the wrong signals to fellow members, that in-turn would actually consider you as a favourite!
I do not use favourites as a means to see who is on site and then hunt them down, the function in itself it great, it lets you know ,yes they are on site too.
I am all in favour of the "reject button" just like the system in place for "Comments" and "Established"
If it can be done great, if not, as an alternative a "remove button"
Just my two pennies!
Padds
I take a different view, Padds.
Favourite
blue is my favourite colour. i don't expect blue to be informed of this and i certainly don't need blue's permission. a favourite is, by definition, a unilateral decision. in this context favourite means bookmark (in fact doesn't internet explorer actually call bookmarks favourites ?)
friend
a friend, by definition, is by mutual consent. a friend must be invited and a friend must consent. friends might share information, like where each is.
The problem is that this site confuses these two separate concepts. when someone clicks on favourite because they are too tired/busy/drunk to make contact then or simply aren't sure whether they want to and want time to think it should be private, no-one else should be informed and the user shouldn't get any info about the person they've favoured. instead, the site takes your favourite list and makes it into a friends list.
your suggestion won't solve the problem, Padds because it doesn't separate these two separate concepts. the site needs to get the lazy (or incompetent) programmer back to do the job properly as it's done on other sites. (If they can't they could pay me to do it, i could do with the cash..)
I think sexford is right a favourite and a friends button may solve the problem, also Padds suggestion of "accept" as a friend would also help.
If admin can impliment the request the new notification should read
"John Smith would like to add you as a friend...with the option accept/reject"
SAme here,,We also get people adding us as Favourites,,And,to be honest,,it would be nice to be asked first.
When it happens,We usually mail the person/s involved, and ask them to remove Us as their favourites,,but,,sadly the way the system is,,you have No way of knowing If they do,or not!!
Again this is a site related topic, it should be in site help forum for discussion rather then anything goes.
Anna, Mr C, if it was implementented as i suggest those things couldn't happen, could they ?
No,Sexford.......If it is,,and We hope that it is...When someone wants to Add you as a favourite,,you'll get a request to Accept,or Deny.
Unless you Accept,That person/s will not be able to add you.
The Favourite's issue, is now working on the UK Site, I am now awaiting confirmation from Users to confirm my request.
That said, S4I has other benefits that UK site does not.
Fair play to ADMIN,MODS and too fellow users, that continue too promote the site.
Padds.
