Why does drink seem to play such a part of this past time ?????????????? well I'm all for few every to ease the nerves and socialise but to be pissed to play just doesn't seem right :taz:
I suppose its different strokes for different folks. I dont drink at all so i have a full memory of all my meets and most of the ladies i play with are not big drinkers when they are playing, but everyone is different. Personally i have turned down fun as i felt the lady in question was too drunk, but thankfully for me anyway this has not happened too often, as i wouldnt be interested in someone that was waisted drunk to play with. What works for some wont work for others. I like to be sober and on top of my game, but others just like to get drunk as it helps them relax. Variety is the spice of life i suppose. Sean
I dont see the point in getting pissed for a meet ... I like to know i have my faculties about me and that if i say no it wont be interpreted as a drinken slur ...Nothing wrong with a few drinks to lighten the mood and soften the nerves , but there is and should be a limit to what is personally and sociably expectable in-regards to safe play . We are all different and our out look and requirements are therefore different , maybe i am wrong ....but id like to remember the fun i have had ,....know i was safe and would be understood at all times and ..........who needs the headache
Sean said it perfectly - What works for some doesnt work for others and each to their own. Plus, when a party is happening and everyone is socialising, having fun and feeling safe in the environment they find themselves in, they may not realise they have had too much until its too late. This happens not only in swinging but in everyday civillian parties too. While I personally hardly ever drink & Mrs Sugar wouldnt get drunk per sé at a meet / party, some people may need a little extra to calm the nerves and thats ok because what works for me may not work for you. Theoretically, the only worry I would have about people drinking too much is that they may misinterpret others actions or words that may lead to a falling out that otherwise could have been avoided. Ive seen this happen many times while working behind a bar. No judging here, after all nobody can judge anyone else as we are all the same
