Long Time forum reader, Not really first time poster.
I have been wondering now do some people spend they're waking hours on here?, I mean there are a few that seem to spend a candle lit vigil by the forums, ready to post a reply at hyper speed to the latest contribution to the threads, like a metaphorical fisherman encamped by his net, patiently waiting for a bite on his last line,a little nibble of a response, giving them the excuse to reply with another tawdry reply to the already mundane topic.
Don't these people have anything else to do with themselves?, a life to live? a job to do?
I mean for a site thats about swinging it amazes me to see the amount of tripe on the forums, if its not silly subjects 'what did you put in the washing machine first today' etc etc, it seems to be a baying mob complaining about the site and the people that try and run it(yet despite all your 'annoyance' at the site you spend an awful amount of time on here!!).
I wonder are these the same people that populate other forums throughout the web with they're inane banter, pontificating and sniping, who feel they need multiple outlets as possible to vindicate themselves?
These individuals really need to take a few days off from this site every once in a while,
(A) To let they're brains cool down( all the over heating means that similar topics merge and everything they write looks the same) and
(B) To give other site members a chance to post more constructive and meaningful content.
So I suggest breaking the cycle from time to time,it may do them some good!!!
Gives a sec I'm just lighting another candle for the vigil :lol2: you should've put this under the 'letting off some steam' thread :violin:
Hi Mudbug,
I agree with you on this... (pmsl "what did you put into the washing machine today :lol2: )
Only because I put my "opinionated hat" on this evening, I would like to put in my two cents about the forums. I was going to reply to the "Forums, have your say" thread, but I feel this is relating to it also.
As a member of forums on other sites, I cannot believe how much controversy there is over the silliest little things on here, and there are a few posters who argue for the sake of it, or just to have a go at particular mods, admin and users alike. In my humble opinion, those who go on about "free speech" etc are full of it. There is such a thing as manners and respect and what I mean by that is respecting someones opinion, and having manners about how you respond to something you might disagree with, or have a bit of respect for the mods and admin when they make a decision to improve the site for it's members. - I mean Oh My Actual God! Everyone was moaning that the chatrooms were slow and difficult to get into etc etc, then when it was reduced to the 80 room limit, everyone complained for about a month!
Also, when it comes to the threads in the forums, I for one, would love to see threads relation to "real life" and real life situations. For example: we were discussing the strike action that took place today in the chatroom the other evening and while I feel quite strongly about it from the side of the public sector, I respected other peoples opinions, and had the manners to listen (albeit heatedly :lol2: ) Having said that I bear no grudges to anyone personally who disagreed with me.
I read the forums regularly, but I don't usually post in any of the "controversial" ones as the onslaught can be - quite frankly - disgraceful.

(ps Have my shin gaurds on, my helmet and mouth guard too... so bring it on :boxing: )
i'd have to agree with everything said here. A well thought out argument !!
p.s. : that mouthguard and helmet combo sounds hot anna lol xx
As one who has started threads & replied to many I do agree some are pointless & inane ...these ones do tend to die out after a few days, others are amusing, rather like over heard conversations in a bar.
However through the forums I have meet many people & gauaged their personality in advance of any meetings ... & often deciding not to meet based their forum personality, which may be more true to form that their email or chatroom persona.
I have been away for a few days, but reading from afar ... all hell seems to have broken out in a number of threads ... & in some cases personal opinion has given rise to personality clashes, rather than open and frank debate.
Anna is right ... Respect & Manners
We should remembered thats what is written or said is difficult to take back ... take a breath, read & then press enter/send.
1- There should be no comments about former members or those not obviously active on the site, as these people cannot defend them selves.
2- Moderators are referees/facilators ... their decisions should be fair & qualified, their own personal opinions, likes/dislikes should not come into the discussions or be the basis of a decision. If a moderator wants to participate in a debate/discussion, then it should be using their non-mod profile. You cannot be a player and a ref. In rugby the refs decision is final & the ref is respected by the players.
3- At the end of the day we are all here for fun & to make new friends ...make love not war ...
I think some of the protagonists in the forums need to think about what has happened and then build that bridge ... opinions are valued but so is the right to disagree ... neither should result in a verbal war.
anna.......well i can honestly say that as one of those who complained about the room limit I am NOT one of those who complained about the rooms being slow. Generally speaking however (and I do appreciate that's that what you were doing too)I would have to agree with you - I don't usually have any complaints about the site or the way it's run, but that did (and still does) annoy me.
I have removed a post from here...
This post was referring to others in here,by names that are just not needed!
The person in question, was only too happy to post that in here,,yet was the first to complain about the "hassle" that can go on within the forums, which,as it so happens, would have been started/caused by the post she left anyway!!
Yeah, good post! Tired of "westside wannabes", who like to remind us they are "opinionated, controversial, provocative, funny, witty, etc..." (though they lack of most of those qualities) and, they say, don´t give a shit about what other´s think of them. Fair enough, but it´s really very childish and pathetic. Grow up mate!
Far , far away in A LONG forgotten Universe, there was a time that these Forums were FUN, INFORMATIVE, and free from BICKERING, PETTY SNIPING, MOD-BASHING, and whatever else is now passing as Anything Goes..
Yes we are all entitled to freedom of speech, but that does not entitle us to use these Forums for seemingly petty agendas against anyone on the site.
People should be allowed to log in ,go into the forums, dip in, and be spared the silly on-site squabbles that have been taking place.
Nor should anyone feel they have to justify their reasons for being on a swing site, I have lost count of the number of times I have bitten my tongue, in the new and nervous, introduce yourself forums, when some members have swooped on people for being honest about themselves..
Mind your own buisness!
Use the site for your own purpose, stop judging others, and get on with swinging, is that why we are not all here?????????
Mudbug, Hello
I rarely post in the forums, or read them, but I read your post with interest. Very well put!!!
