It means we can enjoy ourselves more amongst our own age group.
I Dont really pass any remarks on peoples ages, but as Amber said I think each to there own. Some people are more comfortable to play with those in they're own age group, and I dont think anyone can take away from them for that, its the same as some people prefer more amble people others prefer thin people, its much of a muchness.
Just My few bob on the matter.
I admit I do have a younger cut off age, no on under 30 as I have nieces, nephews and kids in that age group. also not over 70, again because I have relations in that age group.
Does it make me ageist, I don't think so but I can understand why people set their personal limits, some choose to put it on their profile others don't.
True age is only a number ... it is not the years in your life but the life in your years ... some of us can be full of life and young in heart, mind and spirit despite the miles on the clock ...but many people guage the book by the cover thereby missing any chance or opportunity to gel ... to know me is to love me ... so I suppose I am also at fault in setting my own age barriers ... I am happy to chat and be friends with those 20 years younger than myself but would it go any further than chat and friendship, would I want it to go any further, I honestly don't know ... so I suppose in fairness to all we should all be open minded and not make a decision until we know a little more about one another.
who you chose to play with is totally a personal taste - whether it's in regard to age, size, gender or whatever.
it's a different story when people are planning parties and excluding on the basis of such categories. i've seen one group on the scene who limits on the basis of size and age. and what's gas is that now that he's hit 40 he's had to change the goal posts a bit. there's also another couple who throws parties and explicity states only people of a certain age and size need apply.
who are they to tell other party members what type of people they should be attracted to or play with.
as far as i'm concerned, if you're having a proper party it's absolutely ridiculous and offensive to limit on the basis of what you the organiser finds attractive.
actually, i take that back. he didn't change the age range of people allowed to partake...he's now just lying about his age it would appear (just checked out the party announcement!)
I wonder do the people who say 40 is too old realise that they are turning down some truely goreous sexy people. They have eliminated Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lopez, many of these look better than they did before 40. Not too mention all the sexy guys who are considerably over 40 but still very ridable, Sean Connery, Omar Shariff, Raquel Welsh, Sopia Loren (who posed in a Pirelli calendar at the age of 72, about which she said "You have to be born a sex symbol. You don't become one. If you're born with it, you'll have it even when you're 100 years old."). So to the youngesters who have placed an upper age limit, here, have a mirror, and watch carefully, because before you know it you will be 40 and will no longer fit your own criteria and will be to old to play with yourself!

Maybe I am getting a bit more pragmatic as I get older but the person who organises the party is entitled to set whatever conditions he/she wishes. If some of us a are upset by that then we have the option of organising our own party which excludes the type of person who sets boundaries. One of the sexiest women i have ever met was when I was in my 30's and she would have been in her 50's. She was someone who worked where I worked and every guy in the place knew she had it. To summarise sometimes you can miss out on some fantastic experiences by setting boundaries. Include everything exclude nothing.

agree with mulderntcell it is up to the party organiser who they want to invite, just like any type of party or event the host/organiser always make a decision on who will be invited or not. we all have our own personal choices and preferences. it would be a very boring world if we all liked exactly the same things. I have no problem with anyone having an age criteria or any criteria for the type of person/people they seek to meet. I believe we all have some sort of limit or other, some chose to make them public others don't. I have it public in my profile of the age at which I prefer to draw the line, that is my person choice and all I ask is that it be respected as such. It is not a criticism on younger/attached guys.

So what was the raison d’etre of their party, was it “come and admire my young good looking friends†… “look at the eye candy†…. But as everyone knows just because there is a pretty nice wrapper does not mean it is nice & tasty to eat.
It is obvious that the party organiser, a woman I presume ( I will not honour her with the term lady) has still not changed her attitude since her teen years, when girls (and they can be little Bees) decide who can be their friend or member of their exclusive group on a whim & on innocuous reasons eg being blonde .
As Newbie pointed in an earlier reply, they will someday be 40, and no longer look as youthful or as toned as they do now – but then I suppose that is the purpose of botox, liposuction and plastic surgery-
A party to be fun or interesting needs to have an interesting mix of people, it is probably just as well their will be music playing to hide the pauses in conversation when the vain ones have run out of conversation about their looks, fashion and holidays.

All this kind of scene can be very much a playground scenario sometimes. When I said that these people invite people around me it is, literally, like that. In front of me. If I were to invite someone in any aspect, socially, a swingers party, whatever and I do not want a specific person there, I am not going to be as childish as to go and invite everyone else around him/her and just ignore her, but hey, that is just me. Maybe I am the odd one out? ;)
Then you get the "are you going to X party?" "oh, you're not? I would have sworn that you would have been invited ... no worries hon, there are many other parties along the way" hahahaha, it kind of reminds me of the "jelly bean" compliments that Alan mentioned in another thread.
Hurtful? not at all. I think that in this scene there is no space for being hurt. At least not for me. That comes with experience. ;) I just find it childish.
However, the fact of establishing certain criteria for inviting people to one's party I still find valid. As I said, to each their own. :D
